What Toxiproxy is
Toxiproxy is a framework for simulating network conditions in testing, CI and development environments. It consists of a TCP proxy written in Go and a client that talks to the proxy over HTTP. Applications send their test connections through Toxiproxy, and tests then change the health of those connections over HTTP. It supports deterministic tampering with connections as well as randomized chaos. Documented toxics include latency, down, bandwidth, slow_close, timeout, reset_peer, slicer, limit_data and packet_loss. Client libraries exist for Ruby, Go, Python, .NET, PHP, Node.js, Java, Haskell, Rust and Elixir. A toxiproxy-cli command creates, lists and deletes proxies and adds or removes toxics.
