About FreeQATools

FreeQATools is a directory of open-source software testing and QA tools. It lists 203 tools in 16 categories, with metrics from the GitHub or GitLab API of each repository.

Metrics as of , from the GitHub or GitLab API of each repository. Refreshed monthly.

What free means here

Free here means open source: an OSI-approved license and a public repository. Freemium and free-tier proprietary tools are not listed.

The full rules, and the commonly searched tools that do not meet them, are on the methodology page.

Where the numbers come from

Every number comes from the GitHub or GitLab API and shows the date it was fetched. We do not estimate, round, or rank by opinion; tables are sorted by a stated key.

The catalogue is rebuilt once a month. Each rebuild refetches every tool and recomputes status. A dated snapshot is written when every fetch succeeds. The trends page compares snapshots.

Where the text comes from

Each tool description is one paragraph written from the tool's README and documentation, with a link to the page it was written from. Comparison tables state documented facts, each with a source, or read not documented.

Tools are listed by the published inclusion rules. The site carries no analytics.

Who publishes it
