What Selenium is
Selenium is an umbrella project of tools and libraries for automating web browsers. It implements the W3C WebDriver specification, a language-neutral interface that works across major browsers. WebDriver is the core component, letting one automation script drive different browsers without changes. Selenium IDE is a browser extension that records and plays back user actions. Grid runs tests in parallel across multiple machines. API documentation covers bindings for Java, Python, C#, Ruby and JavaScript. The documentation lists Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari as supported browsers.
