What AVA is

AVA is a test runner for Node.js. It runs tests concurrently and gives each test file an isolated environment. Tests are JavaScript files that import the test function and make assertions through an execution context. Promises, async functions and observables are supported. The package ships TypeScript definitions. Assertion failures show code excerpts and diffs of actual and expected values. AVA detects parallel build support in CI and splits test files across builds. It includes a TAP reporter, watch mode and snapshot testing. AVA installs locally as a dev dependency and runs through npx or an npm test script, since it cannot run globally.
