What GoogleTest is
GoogleTest is Google's C++ test framework, based on the xUnit architecture. The repository merges the formerly separate GoogleTest and GoogleMock projects. It discovers and runs tests automatically without manual registration. Assertions cover equality, inequality and exceptions. Custom assertions can also be defined. Death tests verify that code exits in an expected way. Failures can be marked fatal or non-fatal. Value-parameterized and type-parameterized tests repeat a test across different inputs or data types. Runner options include selecting individual tests, setting their order and running them in parallel. The 1.18.x branch requires C++17 or later.
