What minitest is
minitest is a Ruby testing library covering TDD, BDD and benchmarking. In minitest/test, unit tests are methods prefixed with test_ that check results with assertions. The minitest/spec module adds a spec engine that maps assertions to spec expectations. The minitest/benchmark module asserts algorithm performance in a repeatable way. The minitest/autorun file runs all tests, and minitest/test_task generates rake tasks. Tests use ordinary Ruby classes, modules, inheritance and methods instead of a separate DSL. The MT_CPU variable sets how many threads run tests in parallel. The library requires Ruby 3.2 or later. It is a dependency of Rails.
