What supertest is
supertest is a JavaScript library for HTTP assertions built on superagent. It offers a high-level abstraction for HTTP testing while keeping the lower-level superagent API available. It accepts an http.Server or a function and binds it to an ephemeral port when it is not already listening. It works with any test framework or without one. Chained expect calls assert status codes, headers and body content. Tests can use callbacks, promises or async/await. An agent persists cookies across requests, and an option enables HTTP/2.
