What REST Assured is
REST Assured is a Java library for testing and validating REST services. Tests chain given, when and then calls to build a request and check its response. Response bodies are validated as JSON or XML, with XPath checks for XML. JsonPath and XmlPath parse response bodies into values. It handles any HTTP method and names GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE, HEAD and OPTIONS explicitly. Requests can set and validate parameters, headers, cookies and body. Several authentication mechanisms are built in, including basic authentication. A Spring MockMvc module has its own Javadoc. Version 6 requires Java 17 or newer.
