What Apache JMeter is
Apache JMeter is a Java application from the Apache Software Foundation for load testing and performance measurement of web applications and other services. Its samplers cover HTTP and HTTPS, SOAP and REST services, FTP, JDBC databases, LDAP, JMS, mail protocols, TCP, shell commands and Java objects. A GUI test IDE records, builds and debugs test plans. A non-GUI command-line mode runs load tests on Java-compatible operating systems. Results appear in a dynamic HTML dashboard report. Live results can also stream to databases such as InfluxDB or Graphite. Extractors pull values from HTML, JSON, XML and text responses for correlation. JMeter requires a Java 17 runtime.
