What Lighthouse is
Lighthouse is an auditing tool for web pages and web apps that collects performance metrics and developer practice checks. It runs from the Lighthouse panel in Chrome DevTools, a Chrome extension, a Node CLI or a Node module. The CLI writes an HTML report by default. It can also output JSON or CSV. Audit categories include accessibility, performance and SEO. Lighthouse audits pages locally with a local Chrome installation. Report results are not sent to a remote server. Custom audits and plugins extend the audit set. The Node CLI requires Node 22 or later.
