What pytest-bdd is

pytest-bdd is a BDD framework for pytest that supports a subset of the Gherkin language for automating requirements tests. Scenarios run through pytest itself, with no separate runner. Step functions use given, when and then decorators and bind to scenarios in feature files. Existing pytest fixtures can be reused in steps through dependency injection. It supports scenario outlines, backgrounds, rules, datatables and docstrings. Each feature file holds a single feature. It includes helpers that generate test code from feature files. It installs from PyPI with pip.
