What Fortio is
Fortio is a load testing tool that began as the Istio load tester and later became a standalone project. It sends HTTP or gRPC requests at a target queries-per-second rate and records a latency histogram with percentiles. A run lasts for a fixed duration, a fixed number of calls, or until interrupted. Fortio ships as a Go library, a command-line tool and a server process. The server offers a web UI and REST API for starting runs and graphing results. Its server mode also provides request echo, injected latency or errors, TCP echo and proxying. Distribution covers a multi-architecture Docker image, release binaries and OS packages.
