What WireMock is
WireMock is an open source tool for mocking HTTP APIs in test and development environments. It runs inside unit tests, as a standalone process, or in a container. Client wrappers extend it from its original Java library to other languages. Mock APIs can be defined in code, through its REST API, as JSON files, or by recording proxied HTTP traffic. Stubs match requests on URL, header and body content patterns. Responses can be generated dynamically with Handlebars templates. It verifies the requests it received. It can also inject faults and response delays. Stateful behaviour simulation and browser proxying for request inspection are documented features.
