What RuboCop is

RuboCop is a static code analyzer (linter) and code formatter for Ruby. By default it enforces guidelines from the community Ruby Style Guide. It reports problems in code and can correct many of them automatically. Configuration options adjust most of its behavior. It runs from the command line inside a project folder. A built-in LSP server connects it to editors. It runs on MRI 2.7+ and JRuby 9.4+. Code analysis targets Ruby 2.0 and later. Installation uses a gem or a Gemfile entry through Bundler.
