What Cppcheck is
Cppcheck is a static analysis tool for C and C++ code. It looks for undefined behavior and dangerous constructs such as null pointer dereferences, out-of-bounds access, integer overflows and uninitialized variables. It provides a command-line tool and a GUI application. Custom rules are available when it is built with PCRE. Source builds use CMake, Visual Studio, MinGW or GNU make. Prebuilt options include an official Windows installer and third-party packages for Linux distributions, Homebrew and conda-forge. An official extension runs it inside VS Code.
